I’m a single mom who was laid off May’09. I’m having a difficult time re-registering this semester due to the fact that I’m receiving unemployment benefits and was told that I make too much money! Unbelievable! I need my degree to go back to work and I can’t pay my bills without the unemployment benefits..what am I supposed to do? Seems like I’m caught between a rock and a hard place..can’t win. I’m doing the best I can and am barely making ends meet as it is. I really need to finish school otherwise I won’t be able to get my job back..any ideas? I really need some help, time is running out. Thank you.

You should definitely apply for financial aid – by filling out the FAFSA, you may be eligible for a Pell Grant.
Also, look into scholarships that are available in your state or community, or in the field you are studying. Does University of Phoenix offer any scholarships? Research and investigate available scholarships – every penny can help!

Hi, Thanks for reading!
To apply for a Pell Grant, you must fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. It can be found here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. The FAFSA IS your Pell Grant application.
And for most other grants, in order to know if you are eligible or how much money you will receive, you must fill out the FAFSA first.

Hello I think this is what I have been looking for. College grad, single mom, with not many jobs in area I live in. I have had it, plus I have a college student. I can do this, don’t have money for more college.
