Scholarships with Later Deadlines, Pt I
Despite the economic downturn, there are more college and career education scholarships out there than you might think. In fact, although the deadline for many 2009 scholarships has passed, there are still a few whose deadlines are a month or more away. If you’ve been running late in submitting your FAFSA, you may still have time to complete it in time to apply for scholarships this summer.
Scholarships for Denver, CO, Public School Graduates
The Denver Scholarship Foundation website lists several summer-deadline state and national scholarships available to students who graduated from a Denver public school. The scholarships are diverse, ranging from the Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship to University of Colorado full-tuition scholarships to the national Maybelline – CosmoGirl Scholarship. You will probably need to fill out a FAFSA to be eligible for most of these scholarships.
Scholarships in Religious Studies for Journalists
If you’re a journalist thinking about going back to school for another degree or a special focus, the Religious Newswriters Association is offering $5,000 scholarships specifically for college courses in religion or spirituality. The scholarships are available to qualifying fulltime print and broadcast journalists and will cover tuition, registration fees, and books for religious studies at any accredited university, college, or seminary.
